IN HOUSE Citizenship Workshop

Description

**Pre-requisite: Has been trained and attended a Naturalization Forum in the last year. Can complete a form N400. Bilingual volunteers needed.**

We are looking for volunteers that have already been trained at one of our previous Immigration and Citizenship Forums to assist Permanent Residents in completing their Naturalization (Citizenship) application in a smaller setting at one of our BakerRipley locations.

Please dress comfortably and bring a light sweater as the room may get cold. Volunteers can also support us in the coordination of the event as runners, interpreters, and at registration. Our goal is to complete 10-20 N400 applications for clients.

Monthly - Attorney Volunteer Opportunity

Immigration and Citizenship

Description

Help community members become United States Citizens! We are in need of attorney volunteers to help at our monthly Saturday, Citizenship Forums.

As a volunteer attorney you will be helping Lawful Permanent Residents apply for Naturalization by providing legal screenings to community members. No immigration experience required. Please arrive at 8:00AM for a legal training provided by our Managing Attorney. All materials needed will be provided the day of scheduled event. This year we are excited to offer 1.5 CLE (including .5 Ethics) for all attorney volunteers participating in the training.

Breakfast and lunch are provided. Comfortable clothing and a sweater recommended.

Spanish language translators will be available on site to provide assistance.

SATURDAY Citizenship Forums

Immigration and Citizenship

Description

BakerRipley regularly holds free Citizenship & Immigration Forums in partnership with NALEO Educational Fund, City of Houston's Office of New Americans and Immigrant Communities and our media partner, Univision 45. Volunteers are needed to conduct legal screenings and assist qualified Legal Permanent Residents in completing their Naturalization (Citizenship) application.

Training is provided for both attorney and non-attorneys on the same day -- Training for all volunteers starts at 8 a.m. promptly. Breakfast and lunch is always provided. Please dress comfortably and bring a light sweater as the room may get cold. Volunteers can also support us in the coordination of the event as runners, interpreters, and at registration.

Quarterly Workshop Training

Immigration - Leonel Castillo Community Center

Description

The Immigration and Citizenship Team would like to offer a special training opportunity for volunteers who are unable to attend our Saturday, Citizenship Forums. This training will be for anyone who would like to participate at our week day workshops titled IN HOUSE Citizenship Workshop. Training will include how to assist DOJ Accredited Representatives in helping community members fill out their Citizenship Application (N-400). All training materials and breakfast will be provided to volunteers.
